This 19 year old right-handed batsman Shubman Gill was definitely disappointed as his name was no where to be seen in the one day squad for the West Indies tour.

Especially when he just finished with India A winning 4-1 against West Indies A. Gill topped the five-match series with 218 runs from four innings at an average of 54.50 and strike rate of 98.19 with three fifties to his credit. Surprisingly, he did not find a place in the India ODI squad to take on West Indies. His name was definitely into consideration along with Manish Pandey and Shreyas Iyer.

Gill plays for The Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League and has definitely been a player to look out for.

Former captain Sourav Ganguly also showed dissatisfaction over the fact that Gill was not included in the one day squad. Gill is just 19 and has already presented himself as a dependable player overseas. Let’s hope that Gill gets plenty of chances to prove his worth in future.
