Filmfare awards are Bollywood’s most prestigious awards and are considered as a major event by the Indian film industry. There have been many instances when the distribution of these awards doesn’t make sense at all.
Filmfare 2020 too saw some really biased declarations last night. Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy bagged most of the awards last night. I would not say all of them were undeserving but the bias was pretty clear.
Film Kesari’s song- ‘Teri Mitti’ which was sung by B Praak and penned by Manoj Muntashir is a heartwarming track expressing a soldier’s love for his motherland. The song is overwhelming and hits the listener in all the right places. The song lost to Gully Boy’s ‘Apna Time Ayega’ in the best lyrics category.
Now Apna Time Ayega is definitely a catchy and amazing rap song that can resonate with the country’s struggling youth but when it comes to lyrics Teri Mitti should have been the obvious choice. Fans weren’t happy with the announcement and even song’s lyricist Manoj Muntashir expressed his disappointment and sadness on Twitter.
This is what he tweeted:
Singer Neha Bhasin also tweeted in Manoj’s favour:
Hashtag boycott Filmfare was trending. Agreeing with everything that the above two said, I hope that Bollywood stops with this biased behaviour. Or I will be ready to pen down another ‘What is this behaviour Bollywood?’.
