Well, it will be good to see Deepak Chahar and Navdeep Saini get some more chances, after all, they performed quite well in the T-20’s against West Indies. Rishabh Pant has another opportunity to redeem himself while I seriously hope that Shreyas Iyer is not ignored when it comes to the playing-11.
Pant is being given more and more opportunities so as he can be depended upon in future as wicket-keeper/batsman. He was unable to perform well in the first test match and his performance has not been much appreciable in the T-20’s and ODI’s as well.
He did perform well in the last T-20 against West Indies, but the 21 year old middle order batsman needs to get more consistent with his good play otherwise it will be tough for him to maintain his position in the team.
Pant is supposedly the best candidate to take Dhoni’s place but he needs to work more on his play as he won’t be getting such huge opportunities all the time.
On the other hand let us have a look at Shreyas Iyer. Sadly Iyer was not given any opportunities during the T-20’s while he did well in both the One day Internationals against West Indies. He scored two half- centuries in two consequtive ODIs. He is not a part of the test squad though.
Selection of Pant over Iyer has been labeled as favouritism from a lot of fans but of course, such speculations will always be there. His performance against West Indies from India A side was also commendable.
