Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan injured his left knee during the first Super League match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament while playing for Delhi. A piece of wood in his batting pad pierced his left knee and caused a deep laceration while he was diving to return to the crease.
Sanju Samson, who has been hoping for an entry in the Indian team since a long time now might get to replace him in the upcoming T-20 series against West Indies. India will play a three matches series against West Indies starting 6th December 2019.
Samson was a part of the T-20 team in the home series against Bangladesh but was not given a chance to play. Rishabh Pant’s below-average form and Samson’s exclusion from the playing eleven raised a lot of questions as Samson has been doing well for himself in the domestic matches but still hasn’t been given a chance to actually play
Let us hope that this turns out to be an opportunity for the Kerela boy to make a space for himself in the Indian team. With the T-twenty world cup which will be held next year, many eyes will be on Samson. The Indian team has been tackling with the issue of a weak middle order in the white-ball cricket and Samson just might be the solution to it.
