Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of ODI and test series owing to the injury he incurred in the fifth and final T20 against New Zealand.

Sharma sustained an injury in the calf muscle yesterday. He scored 60 runs in 41 balls before getting retired hurt. Sharma was named the interim captain in the absence of skipper Virat Kohli, who was on rest for the match.

Sharma didn’t make it back to the field in the second inning and KL Rahul had to fill in his position and lead the team. BCCI has announced that Sharma won’t be playing the upcoming ODI and test series due the injury. India won the match by 7 runs and also whitewashed the series with 5-0 to become the first country to do so.

Well, this does open a position for Sanju Samson, who desperately needs another chance.
