It’s cricket world cup 2019 and I guess we should not be surprised if we get to see a bit of drama. It’s more than a month and the event has seen a bunch of controversies but hardly any player has reacted over criticism.
The Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja lost his calm yesterday and slammed Sanjay Manjrekar over his remarks which were made while he was commentating during India versus Bangladesh match. Manjrekar said during the live commentating, “I am not a big fan of bits and pieces player which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50 over cricket. In test match he is a pure bowler. But in 50 over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner.“
When Jadeja got to know of this he tweeted:
Jadeja hasn’t been in playing eleven and has been in the ground just as a replacement fielder. It must have been hard for him to hear such commets on his caliber as a cricketer by Manjrekar.
Manjrekar has been known to blurt out some harsh remarks and is at the receiving end of criticism by fans. Not always his inputs have been welcomed by people and quite many times he has said controversial things about certain players. For instance, after India versus Bangladesh match, he tweeted critically of M.S. Dhoni, K.L. Rahul and Mohammed Shami.
Shami has been outstanding as he has taken 14 wickets in 4 matches out of which 13 wickets were taken just in just first 3 matches ( 4wickets each in first 2 matches he played and 5 in the third). But in the last match, he was the least economic and took just a single wicket while Rahul went on to score 77 runs and built a strong partnership with Rohit Sharma and Dhoni played a 35 run knock in 33 balls. But none of the other players has reacted to what Manjrekar said.
Jadeja has been struggling with his consistency level, which is the reason for his exclusion from the playing 11.
