The trailer of Mission Mangal which is a film based on Indian Space Research Organization’s maiden Mars expedition. The Mars orbiter mission (MOM), also known as Mangalyaan is a space probe orbiting Mars since September 2014. It made ISRO the fourth space agency to reach Mars after NASA, ROSCOSMOS AND ESA, the first agency in Asia to achieve this feat and the first-ever agency to reach Mars in its maiden attempt.
It focuses on the story of scientists Tara Shinde and Rakesh Dhawan who made this mission successful along with their team of zealous scientists. Here are certain things that we picked up from the trailer and you all ought to know:
- Brilliant star cast: The star cast includes some of the finest actors of the industry, apart from Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan Tapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Dalip Tahil and Kirti Kulhari. The star cast can surely make a strong impact on the people as they have been known to play impactful characters earlier.
- No hint of Jingoism: Bollywood movies never know when they cross the fine line between nationalism and jingoism and the Mission Mangal trailer surely kept the things at bay and not for a second gave out the unnecessary jingoistic vibe. On the other hand, it gave us a preview of how underrated ISRO is and the constant comparison with NASA many a times hampers ISRO’s experimental freedom.
- The representation of roots: The trailer has some elements that brilliantly present the deep-rooted Indian behaviour, be it Sherman Joshi sitting in front of the astrologer talking about his weak planetary conditions especially Mangal (Mars) or Vidya Balan doing her morning Pooja. The essence of real India could be seen very clearly in it. Here’s the link to the trailer:
