The Indian batting line up had a tough day out on the field today. The credit goes to New Zealand’s bowling attack. Sanju Samson who opened along with KL Rahul today was caught out at 8(5). Rahul had his hold on the bat and with Indian captain Virat Kohli out on the field it seemed as if India will easily take it to 200. Kohli’s dismissal at 11(9) was a big boost for the Kiwis as wickets fell down in succession after this.
The Kiwis did not let a partnership flourish for India. Expectations were high from Shreyas Iyer but he too got out early scoring just a single run. Rahul also got dismissed at a crucial point after hitting 39(36).
The responsibility fell on the shoulders of Manish Pandey. Pandey has never had much of opportunities like these as he usually comes down the order and India’s top order does not disappoint much. Pandey scored his third half-century in T20’S (50* of 36). India reached a total of 165/5 in 20 overs with Pandey and Navdeep Saini (11*of 9) on the crease.
New Zealand needs to score 166 in 20 overs in order to register their first win in the series.
