The men in blue will be touring the Caribbean islands starting this August and the squad is full of potential. The team has Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Khaleel Ahmed, Hanuma Vihari, Navdeep Saini and of course the youngest of them all Washington Sundar. This tour will be a great opportunity for all of them to come out as responsible players and secure their position in the team. The Indian team has been struggling with the number 4 position. The team is yet to find the perfect catch for the position and this tour will be the best time to do all sorts of experiments.
High hopes from Rishabh Pant
As we all know that the team will be missing M.S. Dhoni as a wicket-keeper during this tour. Meanwhile, K.L. Rahul and Rishabh Pant will be keeping for the Indian side and it’s time for both of them to take a lead. Rahul might or might not be in the playing 11 but Pant’s position is strongly held for sure. It’s a high point for Pant to assume the role of a responsible wicket-keeper/Batsman. His position as a batsman is still in question but chances are he will play at number 4 or 5 but still possibilities of him being at number 5 are far more as Dinesh Karthik won’t be playing.
Shreyas Iyer or Manish Pandey
There will be a hard choice between Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey as both of them are good potential number 4 batsmen. They might be alternately included in the playing 11. Iyer has also proved himself to be a dependable fielder as well and moreover, Iyer is considered a better option when it comes to T-20’s while Pandey will be a better choice in ODIs.
As of now these are just speculations, let’s see how does the team management and skipper Virat Kohli steers this quest for the batsman number 4. Bleed Blue!!
