Dhawan and Rahul continue with the good form
Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul had a great day today as they both scored half-centuries and cemented the inning for the Indian side. Rahul’s purple patch has been quite phenomenal, he hit 54(36) while Dhawan hit 52(36) before both of them got out at the hands of Lakshan Sandakan.
Sanju Samson, who had been waiting patiently for a spot in the playing eleven got out after hitting the first ball for a massive six. Then it was a continuous fall of wickets for India as Samson, Rahul, Shreyas Iyer got out in a row.
Skipper Virat Kohli ended up getting run out after hitting 26(17). The main highlight of the Indian inning was Shardul Thakur. Thakur scored 22* in just 8 balls hitting 2 sixes and 1 four while Manish Pandey complimented him well and ended up making 31* in 18 balls.
India ended up with a total of 201/6.
Sri Lanka’s path to defeat
The Sri Lankan top and middle order failed miserably as the first four batsmen got out with a single-digit score. Angelo Mathews scored 31(20) and Dhananjaya de Silva scored a half-century, 57(36).
Shardul Thakur once again had a great game with the ball as he took 2 wickets while Navdeep Saini got 3 wickets to his name.
The Sri Lankan team was all out at 123 runs and India won the match by 78 runs.
Navdeep Saini was awarded the player of the series while Shardul Thakur won the man of the match.
