The first day of the third test between India and South Africa saw Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma building up a partnership. Sharma had scored a century while Rahane scored a half-century. The second day saw both the batsmen display some quality cricket on ground.
Rohit Sharma’s legendary knock
Rohit Sharma who had scored a century yesterday went on to play an amazing knock today. Shara scored his maiden double hundred in test cricket. Hitman played a knock of 212 runs in 255 balls with a strike rate of 83.14. Sharma’s capabilities as an opener in test cricket were being questioned prior to this series and he very easily shut everyone up. Sharma scored a century in the first match and has now scored a double hundred.
His knock included 28 fours and 6 sixes. High point people stop questioning his calibre.
Rahane takes the charge
Ajinkya Rahane hit his 11th ton in test cricket. His knock of 115 runs in 192 balls included 17 fours and 1 six at a strike rate of 59.90. His partnership with Rohit lead India to a 400+ mark on the scoreboard.
Jadeja’s 50 and Yadav’s six storm
Ravindra Jadeja hit a half-century, 51 runs in 119 balls. This was crucial after Rohit Sharma’s wicket fell at the hands of Kagiso Rabada. The other highlight of the Indian innings was Umesh Yadav’s 31 in 10 balls. He hit two sixes in the first two balls and hit a total of 5 sixes.
India declared their innings at 497/9.
The South African innings had a rough start today they stand at 9/2. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav took a wicket each. South Africa are at a trail by 488 runs. It will be a tough day tomorrow.
