“Oppo” will no longer be team India’s jersey sponsor. This Chinese smartphone company has been team India’s leading jersey sponsor since 2017 when it won the sponsorship bid at a whopping amount of rupees 1079 crores. The company has stated that continuing this deal will be unsustainable for them so they will be stepping down.

Oppo was paying the BCCI about Rs 4.61 crore per bilateral match and Rs 1.56 crore for an international event match or an Asia Cup game. Now “Byju”, which is an online education app, will replace Oppo as the leading sponsor. Byju will be paying the same amount to BCCI and this contract will continue till 2022. Before 2017, Star was the leading sponsor of the Indian cricket team and before that Sahara held that position for a long time.

It is just the right sort of opportunity for a growing company like Byju to market themselves. Indian cricket team is looking forward to their tour of West Indies in August but it will be the month of September when Byju will be officially replacing Oppo’s logo on India’s jersey when they start with a home series. The men in blue will be sporting Oppo during the Caribbean tour.
