Let me tell you one thing, if Game of Thrones doesn’t bring out any kind of emotion in you – loathing, obsession or whatever, then you’re probably dead. The juggernaut of a series which stayed with us for over 8 years (2011-2019) ended this May only. And now *drumrolls* it is time to reap the awards, ahem, rewards. The show has made nothing less than a stellar arrival on the Emmy’s shortlist. The series has got not one, not two, but whooping 32 nominations across a number of different categories!!! And this is the first time any show has got these many numbers of committee approvals. Needless to say, it has broken some records. The last record of most numbers of nominations was held by 1994 drama series NYPD Blue with 26 nominations overall. Emmy Awards, which honor the best USA prime time television, will be held on 23 September this year.

So What Are All the Awards It is Nominated for?

The show itself is nominated in the category of Best Drama. But what about the actors? Take a look:

1. Guest Actress In A Drama – Carice van Houten (Red Priestess Melisandre)

2. Lead Actor In A Drama – Kit Harington (Jon Snow)

3. Lead Actress In A Drama – Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen)

4. Supporting Actress In A Drama – Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark)

5. Supporting Actor In A Drama – Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Ser Jaime Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister)

Would your fave make it to the throne?

Moreover, 4 directors have been nominated for different GOT episodes: David Nutter for “The Last of the Starks”; D.B. Weiss and David Benioff for the finale; and Miguel Sapochnik for “The Long Night”.

But the Show Might Bite Dust

Well, don’t keep your hopes too high. The season 8 got plenty of flak. Some were even demanding a remake of the last one.

And if history repeats itself, then GOT crew might come home with less ‘trophies’ than expected, as the NYPD Blue won only just 6 on the award night!

Nevertheless GOT is in a class of its own and is pretty indomitable at the moment. But don’t forget to pray for your favourite character, just in case.

And of course, keep your schedule clear and popcorn ready when GOT competes for the real Iron Throne, the Emmys!
